LeSean McCoy biography, how old is he?
Also called “Shady,” LeSean Kamel McCoy was born on July 12, 1988 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As a child, McCoy had mood swings where he was sometimes happy, but the next second he would be in a bad mood and might even cry. His mother, Daphne McCoy, gave him the nickname “Shady” because of this and it was acceptable to his father, Ron McCoy.
The young boy started school at Bishop McDevittHigh School in Harrisburg from 2002 to 2005 and it was there that he started playing football more actively and competitively. He won numerous awards and set new records at his school, so his high school number (20) was retired in 2012, making him the second Bishop McDevitt footballer to retire after Ricky Watters.
LeSean McCoy began his college career at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania in 2007 after recovering from a career-threatening ankle injury late in high school. The fear of re-injury at the end of his college season was a factor that made him decide to enter the NFL after two years in college. Thus, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second session (53rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Professional career
Shady’s contract with the Eagles was the usual four-year term worth $3.47 million with $1.72 million guaranteed. He made his professional debut in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 27, 2009, and then started 3 successive games for his team.
On Dec. 20, 2009, in a game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Pittsburgh Panther broke the Eagles’ all-time rookie rush record, previously set by Correll Buckhalter, with 586 yards in 2001 with his 606 yards. This earned him a place in the New York Daily News Top 10 Rookies of 2009 of 2009 as fourth. This was all possible thanks to the departure of Eagles running back Brian Westbrook with an ankle injury. When he was released in 2010, LeSean McCoy shone even brighter.
He finished the 2010 season with a top-four list in yards with 207.3 touchdowns and 2.8 attempts per first touchdown. It was also during this season that he broke the 1000 rush runners play-off record.
In the 2011 season, LeSean made the 1st team All-Pro roster, which finished the season as the league’s fourth runner, won the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award, and finished the season with 1 309 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in 12 games. With such an impressive performance, his contract was extended for five years for a fee of $45 million, with $20.765 million guaranteed. True to his nature, LeSean McCoy maintained an impressive performance until the end of the season, becoming the Eagles’ leading scorer with 6,792 yards in 6 seasons, 2 seasons better than the previous 8 seasons, Brian Westbrook and Steve Van Buren, to achieve such. Early in the 2015 season, however, he was traded to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso.
LeSean McCoy joined the Buffalos on a $40 million five-year contract in which he did well. However, he started his first season with the Bills on a slow note due to a thigh injury. Nevertheless, McCoy gradually regained form. In 2016, he finished the season with 1,267 rushing yards on 234 carries and scored 13 touchdowns.
In 2017, he became the 30th NFL player to rush for 10,000 yards and was named to his 6th Pro Bowl on December 19, 2017.
